The Devastating Effects Of A Hail Storm

Hailstorms can occur without warning, and no area is completely safe. The larger the size of the hailstones that fall from the sky, the greater the potential for damage. Hailstorms are notorious for causing serious devastation, and there is precious little we can do to prevent it. Here are a few of the most common victims of hail damage from Hail Star PDR, your leading hail dent removal service.

Roofs – Hailstorms are reviled among homeowners because of the potential damage they can visit upon their homes’ first line of defense against the elements. A heavy hail pummeling can cause extensive shingle damage and significantly shorten the lifetime of the roof. And because having a new roof installed is so expensive, hail is never a welcome occurrence. The main damage that occurs to a roof from hail is to the shingles. Once the shingles are compromised, water will work its way into the roof and run the entire thing.

Crops – When farmers have acres upon acres of plants growing in the spring and summer months, they are especially vulnerable to hail damage. Millions of hard chunks of ice falling from the sky can kill off large numbers of crops in any given field, leading to reduced food production and lost revenue. The devastation of hail on crops is unfortunate but inevitable, as the best places to grow crops like corn and wheat, just so happen to be prime areas for hail. Hail is estimated to cause over a billion dollars of damage to crops in the U.S. every year and for that reason, many crops are insured. Just like insurance on a vehicle, farmers can purchase crop insurance in the event that their hard work is wiped out. The economic impacts are felt by all of us when there is a particularly violent hail season as the price of commodities like corn and soybeans escalates. Unlike your vehicle, crops cannot be placed under a protective cover like a garage and are extremely vulnerable to being wiped out.

Cars – If you don’t have a garage to protect your car, hail damage can be disastrous. Many cars resemble the pockmarked surface of the moon after suffering significant hail damage. Regardless of the size of the hail, your vehicle can suffer quite a bit of damage if you are caught in the open. This damage can lower your resale value, make your beautiful car into a nightmare and potentially cost you thousands in repairs. Rather than hiding in the garage, just know that many times, hail damage is completely repairable. Fortunately, there is a solution. At Hail Star we are able to bring your dinged and dented vehicle back to life.

Last week we dealt with a short hailstorm that did some serious damage. Unfortunately it was one of those days where I didn’t park in the garage. It left sizable dents in the roof of the car. This is something I hope I can get fixed.

I can agree with you when you said that the resale value of the car can be affected heavily if it is damaged but hail because it will have dents that look like moon craters. Even I would not want a car like that. That is why I plan on taking it to the car shop for repairs. After all, I do intend to sell it next year.

It is crazy how hail can do so much damage to cars. I thought it was interesting how you noted that hail damage is entirely repairable. I wouldn’t have thought this because the dents that hail makes in cars is enormous. If I had any hail damage to my car, I would bring it into an automotive specialist to check it out.
